not dead yet

(Tip: Read with your best British accent) ...

CHICAGO STREETS & SAN: Bring out your dead!  [clang]  … Bring out your dead!  [clang] …

ME: Here's one -- nine pence.
DEAD TREE: I'm not dead!
CHICAGO STREETS & SAN: What?

ME: Nothing -- here's your nine pence.
DEAD TREE: I'm not dead!
CHICAGO STREETS & SAN: Here -- he says he's not dead!

ME: Yes, he is.
DEAD TREE: I'm not!
CHICAGO STREETS & SAN: He isn't.

ME: Well, he will be soon, he's very ill.
DEAD TREE: I'm getting better!

ME: No, you're not -- you'll be stone dead in a moment.
CHICAGO STREETS & SAN: Oh, I can't take him like that -- it's against regulations.
DEAD TREE: I don't want to go in the chipper!

ME: Oh, don't be such a baby.
CHICAGO STREETS & SAN: I can't take him...
DEAD TREE: I feel fine!

ME: Oh, do us a favor...
CHICAGO STREETS & SAN: I can't.

ME: Well, can you hang around a couple of minutes? He won't be long.
CHICAGO STREETS & SAN: Naaah … we heard rumors they spotted an Asian Longhorned Beatle over on Paulina Street.

ME: Well, when is your next round?
CHICAGO STREETS & SAN: Next Thursday.
DEAD TREE: I think I'll go for a walk.

ME: You're not fooling anyone y'know. Look, isn't there something you can do?
DEAD TREE: I feel happy... I feel happy.

[whop]

ME: Ah, thanks very much.
CHICAGO STREETS & SAN: Not at all. See you on Thursday.

ME: Right. Hear that tree? Sure, you’ve been showing a few more signs of life …

And if you’re scratching your head about today’s post, this clip might clear things up …

  4. OH I know this!! We've not let our "children" (read 16 & 18 year old) watch yet but it does bring back memories for me.... but then I was 18 before I ever watched any so I figure may as well carry on the tradition. Thanks for the laugh!!

  7. You and Brawn need to get together, you seem to talk tree. You scared yours INTO growing or it was coming down, and he scared one OUT of growing because it had to come down. Had a live one so he put the ropes around it and scared it to death before it was felled.

  16. Yes, I did the your entire script in my head in character. You sounded a lot like John Cleese...

I love Python. I think I understand them more as I age.

  17. This was a funny post. Geez I'd be frightened to even ask my city to take a tree down. Your tree looks a little sad, but seems like he wants to come back. Hopefully he will.
