Yesterday I crossed paths with a few articles titled, “Top 10 Things That Drive Me Crazy About Your Blog” …
… or something like that …
… like this one …
… and this one.
… and I’m pretty sure there was another one that listed “not being upfront about sponsored posts” as one of their top 10 pet peeves …
So in the interest in being upfront and honest with you all, this post is sponsored. As in self-sponsored. As in self-sponsored by me …
As in self-sponsored by my Etsy shop …
Like this PicMonkey collage featuring some of the custom order pillows I’ve made over the past two months …
… and that free PicMonkey photo editing website is addictive -- or is it addicting? Uh oh, one of the top 10 blog pet peeves has to do with not using spell-check to check your spelling and grammar …
Oh, and speaking of PicMonkey collages, don’t make one for your tutorial …
… like I did here …
… one of those top 10 lists warns that it makes it so much easier for unscrupulous folks to steal your tutorial with a single copy and paste of a single photo and post it as their own …
Now back to the blatant self-promotion …
While the ex-pat Union Jack pillow has been one of my best-sellers …
… I’ve really enjoyed that customers are embracing the fact that I can custom design and custom make a pillow to fulfill their design vision …
Because I know all too well that frustration …
… when you have that vision in your head …
… but can’t quite find the exact thing you envision at Target ….
… like the numbers are not the numbers you need …
… or in the font you want …
So in the interest of self-promotion …
… I’m more than happy to custom make a pillow that fulfills your design dreams. Regardless of font or size or ribbon color …
Just send me a message through my Etsy …
… and speaking of pillows ….
Have you heard about my monogram rosette pillow giveaway going on this week? Click on The Winthrop Chronicles button to enter …
... and have you heard about my pillow link party going on next week? It goes live on Monday, June 25 at 6 AM CST …
Thanks for the head's up, Linda! I never would have guessed that this was blatant self-promotion!
ReplyDeleteJeez- alittle full of it-ugh? :) See you on the 25th!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you clarified that! Your pillows speak for themselves :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day my funny friend!
:) me
Very interesting articles! Your pillows are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSusan
Now that's funny right there! Last time I checked it was MY blog to do with how I want. Yeah my pics suck a lot and I rarely ever use spell check cuz im lazy like that. :)
ReplyDeleteKeep on keeping on Linda.
If you don't toot your horn, who will? Actually, a lot of us will, because you & your pillows are AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteHa!!! Thanks for the warning about the sponsored post. I was worried. Your pillows are lovely and you will be very successful!
ReplyDeleteLove your tootin! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteSuch cute pillows and your party sounds like a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda
You should self promote, especially since your pillows are so well made and stylish. It looks like you have been busy with your custom orders!!! Perhaps, it's because they are so fairly priced!
ReplyDeleteWarning: This comment is an unsolicited promotion for Linda.
ReplyDeleteHer pillows are awesome.
Well made.
Cute.
Each of you need at least 4, one to include the Union Jack.
~Bliss~
You do make awesome pillows! Looking forward to Monday!
ReplyDeleteAren't all blog entries some kind of self-promotion? And as to your addictive/addicting question, Grammar Girl is always my favorite go-to source. Careful, though: This one gets a little deep: http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/addictive-versus-addicting.aspx

I enjoyed your self promotion. The pillows are beautiful and who doesn't want to be solicited by beautiful pillows?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear your Etsy shop has taken off like a rocket! I mean it's pretty obvious why, with those gorgeous pillows and all :)
ReplyDeleteI ADORE your pillows! I want that union jack pillow so bad...it's so hard for me to commit and not try to DIY it. But i seriously doubt I could make something as beautiful as you did.
ReplyDeleteLOVE, Linda, LOVE!
xo Becca
Love your designs& congrats on your shop! Self-promote away! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your pillows! They are so cute! And everyone needs to do a little self promotion every now and then! ;)
ReplyDeleteAs others have said, if you don't promote your work (and what is making beautiful things if not your w.o.r.k.?) who will? And if no one promoted them how would we know how to make pillowcases, etc. out of the lowly drop cloth? I sure wouldn't have thought of it. And it's pillowpalooza time already? I really thought this time I'd have it together and have something made. Not looking good right now. Darn! Wouldn't hold a candle to yours anyway.
ReplyDeleteJanet
So fun to see all of the custom pillows people are ordering. Congrats!! And I'll see you at the party!
ReplyDeleteSo someone just copied your tutorial collage straight from your blog and posted it as their own? Idiots live. Your pillows are awesome.
ReplyDeleteI was stalking your Etsy shop earlier and had to wipe the drool off my keyboard. :-D I see a drop-cloth pillow in my near future!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree, the picmonkey collages ARE addicting, just use with caution!
xo Heidi
I love your pillows :-) The Union Jack is my favourite :-) And good for you for doing some self-promotion - if you don't, who will?!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with the spelling pet peeve - but really, it's not on purpose! It comes with the territory when you major in English at University and do technical writing for a living. Sometimes I wish I could just turn my internal spell-checker off and spell something wrong without cringing. Like typing a little i instead of a big I when I'm talking about me. i really wish i could. OMG, that was painful! ;-)
Linda, you are one talented pillow designer! We love all every last one in your shop, but the Yorkie one will always be our very favorite!
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Meredith & Gwyneth
The more self promotion the better, you are so talented! Plus for me, if it's not at Target, I don't even know it exists:)

Linda, Just in case you are wondering ... I am catching up on all my posts and yours is the first one. I always love to read what you are up too! I love the way you let everyone know you were promoting your pillows and I loved seeing the different ones. You can self promote anytime!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Bj
