pillow talk

Hello.  My name is Linda.  And I’m a fabric hoarder.

That’s right.  I can’t even let go of the tiniest of scraps. Like there might be some future project that could …
… would …

… should need a 2” x 3” red and white polka dot.  Or blue and white stripe.  Or gingham. Or sparkly stretchy sequin.

Now, on the up side it has come in handy.  Like when my daughter’s school called in a panic … desperate for two new fancy tea dance costumes to match the dresses I made three years ago?  Yep. I had enough fabric to make those two new costumes and some extra sparkly sequin gloves too.

And now that I’ve opened my Etsy shop …

…  I can put some of those hoarded remnants to good use.

Like on this pillow …

And this pillow …

Both of which are new additions to my new Etsy shop.  And both of which can be further customized with even more colorful remnants …

But you’re not limited to just these samples …

If you, like me, are a fabric hoarder you can send me your remnant and I can make a custom pillow to match your existing décor.

 * custom made to your specifications *

Would you prefer buttons on your ribbon in lieu of roses and pearls?  Not problem.

Want a different color ribbon?  I’m only limited to what’s available at Michael’s and JoAnn’s.

Don’t have a remnant but can send me a picture of existing fabrics used in your décor?  I’m more than happy to shop for a remnant for you …

Oh, and I’ve gone international.  That’s right.  Don’t live in the U.S.?  Not a problem.  Like FedEx, I can find you ...

Now all this hoarder needs is a sponsor.  And some customers …

P.S.  Click on the button below and you’ll be transported to my Etsy shop ….

  11. Aww, love your shop! I could probably go over board and spend a little too much! I will book mark it for future pillow needs. Hey, you would probably be proud of me.....given the fact that I don't sew or do much with fabric....well, I covered a head board in a drop cloth and put on nail head trim. Impressed with myself, why yes!

  19. I hoard scraps of fabric and scrapbook paper. I have yet to find any clever uses like you have, though. They mostly take up space. :P I think it's so cool that you will let your clients send you their leftover fabric!

  20. Oh, honey---I've got so much fabric I could make a queen sized quilt a day for the rest of my life and not use it all. Once the floor is replaced (from the dry rot), I am going to turn the loft room into a craft room and It will be the renovation to end all renovations. And maybe I'll have a place to sew again.

  21. This is brilliant. I,too, am a fabric hoarder...there, I've said it. What a great option to give to other fabric hoarders to personalize their own pillows. And, your pillows are fabulous. The only problem, you are now enabling me, encouraging me to continue to be a fabric hoarder :)

  22. Linda, Saw this wonderful presentation at Debbiedoos and just had to say that I love your house and everything you've done to make it your home, and Chicago is still my favorite US City too. I lived in the burbs Buffalo Grove and Long Grove for many years and really miss the "city". I'm also a a huge fabric hoarder, and it's nice to know I'm not alone. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home. Peggy

  23. These are so cute!!! I have a HUGE collection of fabric that my husband keeps seeing me add to and he's constantly asking if I'm ever going to use what I already have. :) I tell him eventually... when I have the right project for it. :)

  24. I LOVE these!!! My Mother is a fabric hoarder too. Although I don't sew very often, I keep every scrap that could potentially be used for something in the future. I may have to try something like this. Thanks for sharing.
