Things about how people would be heading over for drinks. And how they could feel that cool breeze …
And then there was this …
“where does everyone sit with all those pillows?”
Really?
They’re pillows. As in soft and light and fluffy …
… as in easy to move aside. As in they can be leaned against for some lumbar support.
It’s not like I lined the bench with boulders.
Just pillows.
Pillows made from half-off placements that I picked up in Target’s clearance aisle last year.
Pillows so easy to make that even the most sewing-challenged of you could make them.
And I know the idea of placemat pillows is not new in the blog world. You can find lots of tutorials out there …
… like this excellent placemat pillow tutorial that linked up to my first Pillowpalooza party in April.
Though, unlike “B" who used pillow forms, I just stuffed my placemat pillows with some batting …
... not boulders or bricks like that Apartment Therapy commenter seemed to think.
So in response to “where does everyone sit with all those pillows?” can I just say the real question should be …
“where did you get all those fabulous pillows?”
Let's keep in touch ...

Linda, beautiful pillows! They give such color and warmth and pizzazz to your bench! I have never made a placemat pillow but what a great idea!
ReplyDelete*sticking tongue out at haters* I love pillows. I really love YOUR pillows!
ReplyDeleteLove your pillows.
ReplyDeleteHow funny! I guess that is a "glass half empty" way to look at things! I'm a "glass half full" girl and I think your pillows are marvelous!
ReplyDeleteI think it might have been my husband who left that comment. He asks me the same thing. Boulders=great idea. Definitrly replace the batting with them before you invite the AT person over. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove your pillows... I was wondering the same thing..."where did you get those fabulous pillows?'
ReplyDeletePat
LOL- Linda- Your reply to that comment should have been....what does someone do with all those rocks in their head? Duh....can you move a pillow to sit? Happy Monday- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThat is also new to me...placemat pillows.
ReplyDeleteI guess when it comes right down to it, as long as it's fabric..use it.
Ha ha ~ there's always one nay-sayer in the bunch! I've got some placemats I bought on clearance for just this project! On my to-do list. :)
ReplyDeletexo Heidi
you can never have too many pillows! they are movable..last time I checked...:)
ReplyDeleteSit on them of course! :) Hey I will be in your neck of the woods in October- would love to hook up with you and your pillows!
ReplyDeleteI'll be the meanie and reply to the 1%....... OH paaaleeeezzz, Heeellloooo.... when you sit you either sit on the pillows or move them, duh. Now what a concept that is huh? Sheesh.
ReplyDelete~Bliss~
Making pillows from placemats might be all over the blogosphere, but I'd never seen it before. Thanks for the great tip! Pinned the tutorial you linked to.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry. I don't know for certain, but it *might* have been my husband who made that nasty comment. He harbors strong negative feelings towards decorative pillows and walks around the house muttering at them as though they are his Newman. Please accept my apologies on his behalf.
ReplyDelete(Okay, truth be told he wouldn't actually know Apartment Therapy if he tripped over it but, still, he's got a weird thing about the pillows...)
Ha ha! Love your reply. It is always amazing what kinds of comments people leave! When I hung painted canvases on my expedit book case to hide clutter & it was featured on Design*Sponge, people said it'd be too much hassle - nay, impossible! - to lift a canvas to access something. Jeez.

Amen! Haters gonna hate. I would gladly roll around in a sea of your pillows!
ReplyDeleteRight on, sister! Just sit with them or move them. Not that hard to figure out. Those are some cute pillows. Can't have too many in my book.
ReplyDeleteYou go girl!
ReplyDeleteMy philosophy is that you can never have enough pillows!
Especially drop cloth ones!
:) me
Haha! That cracks me up. Sounds like something a man would say! We have eleven pillows on our bed and I get that look all the time! Your pillows look beautiful! I could snooze there for hours!!
ReplyDeleteOh those Apt therapy questions. I had a table that I refinished on there once. A couple people asked of the before picture, "that was in her bedroom? Didn't she ever dust?!" Seriously....is that what they take time to type about for a comment? lol
ReplyDeleteI have a pillow problem...as in, I can't seem to have enough...I definitly have them EVERYWHERE. They are easily movable, and they make me happy :)
Hahaha @Elena...I can just see him muttering at the pillows, as if it was their fault for being a pillow. My friend counted the pillows in her home one day, 63....63 pillows. When I Visited one time I had 9 pillows to move from the bed, and put on in the morning. On my bed I have our sleeping pillows, and at present one fou fou pillow! However I like pillows to have real substance to them, ones you buy nowadays, mostly are so light and airy they give no support. I have some old ones I keep recovering because they are solid and provide support! viva las pillows!
ReplyDeleteOH ps, it MAY have been your blog I sent to her, chuckling at all those pillows, so she sent a reply, she had counted them all and I should know how many there were! Too funny!
ReplyDeleteYou tell 'em! Your bench looks might comfy with all those pillows :)
ReplyDeleteYou most certainly can never have enough pillows! They make everything so comfy cozy!
ReplyDeleteSERIOUSLY?!?!?!? BWAHAHAHA...just gotta have a sense of humor i guess! I would dive into all of those pillows, reverse 1 1/2 pike!! WOOHOO!
ReplyDeleteJust point them out on the sidewalk and I will trip them. I love your pillows and you have the perfect amount.
ReplyDeleteHigh five!!!! I think pillows can be moved. And those are cool pillows too!!

My husband also thinks pillows are boulders: giant squares of discomfort which are IMPOSSIBLE to move out of the way. What IS that?
ReplyDeleteI love all those gorgeous pillows and I personally think that you can never have to many. EVER. :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Bj
First of all, I love tons of pillows in a room. Second, great idea to use placemats. And lastly, I have that dark blue with the white design on the top in runner size on my dining room table. Also purchased as a Target clearance item. :)
ReplyDeleteAngela
Ha! My husband is a pillow hater. I make them anyway!
ReplyDeleteI think making pillows from placemats is great. It's so easy and the patterns are endless!
you can never have enough pillows...enough said!
ReplyDeleteCheryl from Ontario
You tell 'em! Pillows like clouds, that's what I like :)
ReplyDeleteYou go girl...you set them straight...who would not want to sit on that bench with those gorgeous pillows...they are just jealous!!
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha ha ha. Your response made me laugh. I love it!
ReplyDeleteIt was probably a man, just sayin' we girls like our pillows
ReplyDeleteYour pillows are fabulous and inviting!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the visit to my blog and your kind comments:)!Your home is beautiful!I love your entry way, the batten board & the COLOR, wow. I am now following too, have a great night.
Jen
Linda, your pillows are gorgeous. Apt. Therapy has a rough crowd over there. Your response is right on!
ReplyDeleteSorry, I must agree with "where does everyone sit". As nice and comfy as it looks....and you must know that it does. It's beautiful. But it also does not look inviting.
ReplyDeleteI tend to put a lot of pillows on my sofa and chairs but I then notice that when people sit down they sorta look like they aren't sure where or if they can move the pillows.
I'm always telling them "oh just move those" or I run over and move them myself. I don't think anything was meant by it except just that....where does everyone sit.
Again. beautiful pillows.
Mmmmm, I'm showing this to my husband right now to prove that we do not, in fact, have too many pillows in the house. I'm also on a quest to negotiate for new bedding in our room, and I think I could trade me putting more pillows on the deck for pillows in the bedroom...
ReplyDeleteOr I may not be making any sense, it's 8 am and I've been up for hours already:)

I'm always amazed by the negativity that AT commenters tend to have. I too like lots of pillows!

ReplyDeleteLove the pillows, even if they are a severe inconvenience. Ha ha. I especially love the navy pillows with white/navy band at the top. I have the matching table runner, and now you've got me wondering about making table runner pillows. Probably pretty similar to placement pillows but with two open ends. Unless I want make a table runner body pillow. Hmm...Thanks for the inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteEh, you just gotta laugh at it I guess. I think it looks amazingly comfortable & cozy. I love me some pillows! :)
