But it turns out that Stacey at Flickerwhips …
… has deemed my blog “on fire” and awarded me this big ball of flame …
Thank you so much Stacey!
And as part of my acceptance speech I’m required to tell you 5 unique things about myself.
Here goes …
1. I’m obsessed with any and all things Harry Potter … (okay, if you’ve read my ‘saturday show and share: books I’ve read in 2011” post you already know this … but bear with me here ….)
2. I am so obsessed with Harry Potter that when I finished reading Deathly Hallows I missed the series so much that I was compelled to write my very own YA fantasy fiction series …
3. I finished “book one” in my series and shopped it around to literary agents … there were lots of rejections and a few requests for “pages” … promptly followed by more rejections …
4. Lately, though, I’ve been thinking about dusting off that manuscript and giving it an overhaul … if only this little thing called a blog wasn’t consuming so much of my time …
… and now for a non-Harry-Potter-related truth …
And before my blog bursts into flames, I’m required to pass along this blazing award to 5 deserving bloggers …
…pass the envelope please …
Presenting (in alphabetical order, because I don’t want to play favorites) …
I’ve recently become acquainted with Stacey’s fabulous blog, A Sort of Fairytale. She has amazing style. Amazing taste. And she lives in the burbs of Chicago. In the very same town as my sister-in-law. And my niece & nephew. She’s on my new “fellow chicago blogger” blog role over there on my sidebar … and all those blogging ladies and I are hoping to get together for dinner downtown very, very soon …
I’ve featured Kelly’s Eclectically Vintage blog before here … when she blew me away with that ladder Christmas tree ... her home is beautiful … and she’s a fellow Jersey Girl (that’s where I was born and bred before following my heart to Chicago ...)
... and she’s my biggest cheerleader. Seriously. She’s always stopping by and commenting … and then commenting on my FB page too … bless your heart, Kelly! Snookie and those Real Housewives of NJ could learn a lesson or two ... or ten ... from you …
Andrea at The Cottage Market is a new blog friend and another recent discovery. Her blog just screams “romance” … everything is just so pretty and feminine – well, with the exception of her husband, “Junkin Joe.” Yep, he’s a new contributor to Andrea's blog and he decided on that moniker all by himself … I think I might have a blog crush on him. Are you reading this Junkin Joe? ...
Karah -- that’s Kara with an “h” at the end -- of The Space Between is a blog I found back in early November when she posted this amazing driftwood tree (here) ... and just recently rediscovered.
In addition to her amazing posts and projects, Karah currently lives in Curacao. Yes, you read that right. Curacao.
.... LIKE IN THE CARIBBEAN. LIKE MY FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD ...
I’ve never been to Curacao … hmm, I may need to schedule a trip soon Karah with an "h" on the end ... do you have guest quarters for four? ...
I have however been to the BVI and Aruba. While others dream of Paris, I dream of Caribbean islands …and clear blue turquoise seas ...
And last … but never, ever let me hear you call her least …
… is Kari at Thistlewood Farm. I could blah blah blah about her beautiful home (which it is) and blah blah blah about her impeccable style (which it is) … but what brings me back day-after-day … what inspired me to sign up for her email alerts … and put her on my blog role ticker thingy on the sidebar over there … is her spot on humor. Sharp. Witty. Makes me laugh out loud ...
... and you're seeing that right ... laugh out loud spelled out in all its glory ...
... because Kari truly deserves the full 12 letters ... not a measly 3 lame text letters ...
:)
And not so ... but oh so ... coincidentally, all five of these ladies that I've featured today are in cahoots -- with me! -- to present a new challenge that we will collectively present ...
... collectively encourage you to join in with us ...
... on our blogs on Monday.
Be sure to check back … all the fun will culminate at a January 31 link party …
P.S. So happy I’ve finally got a chance to use the word “cahoots” on my blog …
P.P.S. I’m adding an Honorable Mention “Blog on Fire” Award here … hey, it’s my blog so I can light a match ... and start a new fire ... if I want to …
I do love my humor mixed in with my diy and Dustin and Whitney at The Rooster and The Hen deliver. I’ve posted about them before here … and they are on my cheer squad with Kelly from Eclectically Vintage and Karianne at Thistlewood Farm (... and I can’t help dreaming up what their uniforms would look like ...).
The Rooster and The Hen have been a huge support system, a veritable fount of information … and a worthy and witty must-read …

Good for you for submitting your literary work, keep at it, and it never ever hurts to put it out there. On my FB page I have a little video from NPR's, Ira Glass, about the creative process, I think you would like it, check it out if you have time. Talk to ya soon, my new awesome friend!
